How the counselling sessions work

Our first priority is to create a therapeutic environment in which you feel safe and supported to express and explore your concerns. The initial session provides an opportunity for you and your therapist to develop a good rapport and strong working alliance.

We will then work together to identify and clarify your goals and priorities, and determine the best ways for you to move forwards. If you choose to continue treatment we will discuss frequency of sessions. All psychology treatment techniques are evidence-based and tailored to your needs, drawing on our expertise in:

  • Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)
  • Interpersonal Therapy (IPT)
  • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)
  • Mindfulness-based therapy
  • Exposure and/or Schema Therapy

Referral pathways and fees

Appointments can be booked online or by phoning 07 3391 5833. We can match you with the best psychologist for you, if you would like support with this.

You may wish to visit your GP or psychiatrist to discuss a referral via a Mental Health Care Plan. The Plan entitles you to a rebate for up to ten sessions per year. Some private health funds also offer rebates for psychological services.

Our fee ranges from $180 to $210 for a 50- to 60-minute session. Approximately half this amount will be rebated under a Mental Health Care Plan.

Payment is required at the end of your session. If you are entitled to a rebate from Medicare, you will receive this the following day.

A reduced fee can be negotiated for Health Care Card holders or individuals on a low income.

If you need to reschedule an appointment, please provide at least 24 hours notice to avoid a $50 cancellation fee.
