Mindfulness, wellbeing and performance training
John grew up in Brisbane with a strong passion for sport and science. He attended the University of Queensland and graduated with a Bachelor of Applied Science (Human Movement Studies/Education). He gained registration as an Exercise Scientist and registration with the Queensland College of Teachers (QCT).
He initially worked in Education and Corporate Health – within Australia and abroad. As a strong interest in mindfulness grew, he decided to work for a mindfulness training organisation in India for a year. Here, he studied and practiced with internationally renowned mindfulness teachers.
He then travelled the world for some years, gaining formal qualifications and registration in teaching mindfulness. He returned to Brisbane and gained employment with the Anglican Church Grammar School.
He taught mindfulness to his students to help with their focus, self-regulation, resiliency and academic performance. As more students, parents and teachers became interested, he created a mindfulness training programme. When other organisations became interested, he established a mindfulness training company – ZenEd. He now works full-time as a mindfulness trainer and coach with both adults and children.
