Assisting people to enhance their lives is Renae’s passion as a registered psychologist.
She firmly believes that by helping clients develop mindfulness, acceptance and compassion they can be supported to create the life that they want to live.
Renae obtained her degree in Psychology from the University of Newcastle in 1997 and has extensive experience in clinical and corporate settings. She work with adult clients seeking assistance with:
- Anxiety
- Worry
- Stress
- Sleep difficulties
- Workplace issues
- Life adjustments
- Depression
- Substance abuse
- Communication issues
- Grief and loss
- Relationship difficulties
- Life coaching
Before establishing a counselling practice Renae travelled extensively and experienced vast variety in her working life ranging from senior management in the corporate world through to stay-at-home mum. She believes these different roles have helped her understand the high demands placed upon workers in today’s competitive workplace and the emotional intensity that comes with being a parent.
Renae uses Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to increase psychological flexibility. Her intention is to create a warm and safe environment where all internal experiences such as emotions, thoughts and memories can be explored with compassion and understanding. At times, therapy can involve vulnerability and emotional intensity; while at other times, it can be playful and enlightening. Her approach is practical and empathic.
Renae works with adults of all ages, genders, cultures, economic backgrounds and sexual orientations. She particularly enjoys working with young adults as they navigate change along their journey of life. Face to face is optimal however she is able to conduct counselling via telephone or Skype.
